Admission Procedure
Sikkim Sardar Patel University, Namchi
Sikkim Sardar Patel University offers admissions to various Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, PG Diploma, Doctoral and Post-doctoral programmes in diverse disciplines. The admission process is designed to be student-friendly, transparent, and in accordance with the UGC guidelines and university ordinances.
1. Admission Notification

The University publishes the Admission Notification for each academic year on its official website and through newspapers and social media platforms.

It contains important dates, eligibility criteria, fee structure, and programme details.
2. Online Application Process
All applicants are required to apply online through the University Admission Portal at www.spusikkim.edu.in
Steps to Apply:

Visit the official website and navigate to the Admissions section.

Click on ‘Apply Online’ for the desired programme.

Select the required Form.
-
Fill out the online application form with personal, academic, and other required details.

Upload scanned copies of the following documents:

Passport-size photograph
-
Signature
-
Marksheets (10th, 12th, Graduation as applicable)
-
Aadhar Card
-
PAN Card/Driving License/ Passport/ Voter ID Card
- Details of grants received for the projects done by you or under your guidance (if any)

Two-paged Research Proposal (if any)

A non-refundable Application/Registration Fee of ₹5,000 shall be applicable for Ph.D., D.Litt., and D.Sc. programs, and ₹1,000 for all other courses, at the time of application. Pay the application fee through online payment gateways (Debit/Credit/Net Banking/UPI).

Submit the form and take a printout for future reference.
OR
Navigate to Download Forms and download relevant Application Form. Take a printout and fill the form manually. Submit the form in person to the University or mail at official Email ID alongwith Application Fee and relevant documents.
3. Eligibility Criteria

Each programme has specific eligibility requirements.

Candidates must have the requisite minimum educational qualifications with prescribed marks.

4. Selection Procedure
-
Merit-Based Admissions: Most UG/PG/Diploma/PG Diploma programmes are offered on the basis of academic merit in qualifying exams.

Entrance Test: For selected professional or doctoral or post-doctoral programmes, candidates are required to appear for an Entrance Test and/or Interview conducted by the University.

The merit list and counselling schedule will be published on the website.
5. Document Verification and Admission Confirmation

Shortlisted candidates must appear at the University for document verification.

Original documents and certificates must be presented for verification.

Upon successful verification, candidates must pay the admission fees to confirm their seat.
6. Issuance of Admission Letter

After fee payment, the University issues an Admission Letter and registers the student in the academic system.

Students are advised to keep the letter safe for future reference.
7. Commencement of Classes

The academic calendar and commencement date of classes are announced on the website.

Students must attend the orientation session and report to their respective departments on time.

The University reserves the right to cancel admission if any discrepancy or false information is found.

Reserved category candidates must present valid caste/tribe/community certificates issued by competent authorities.
- Sikkim Sardar Patel University (SSPU) is committed to providing equal opportunities in higher education through a comprehensive reservation policy in line with constitutional provisions, UGC regulations, and State Government norms. Seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) as per prescribed percentages, while 10% of seats are allocated for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and 5% horizontal reservation is extended to Persons with Disabilities (PwD). In addition, special provisions exist for women candidates, Kashmiri migrants, and students excelling in sports or cultural activities, along with domicile preference for students from Sikkim to strengthen local empowerment. International students are admitted under a separate quota without affecting domestic reservations. Relaxations in eligibility criteria (up to 5%) are provided for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and PwD candidates, supplemented by SSPU’s fee rebates, scholarships, and interest-free installment facilities to ensure inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility in education.
